s RTE Act, 2009


Introduction
The act provides that all children
in the age group of six to fourteen
years have the right to free and
compulsory education in a
neighborhood school till the
completion of his or her elementary
education. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan
is the main vehicle to implementing
the provisions of the act.
Salient Features
Of RTE Act,2009
1) Compulsory and Free
Education For All
It is the responsibility
of the government and local
bodies to establish schools
in the neighborhoods of
pupil which do not have
schools within three years
of passing this Act.
2) Ensuring all round
development of children
Curriculum in consonance with the
values enshrined in the constitution
to be developed and implemented.
Students all round development
should be ensured by building the
child ‘s knowledge, potentiality and
talent through a system of child
friendly and child centerd learning.
3) Ensuring the proper
implementation of the RTE
Act
To ensure the proper
implementation of the RTE
Act, Grievance redressal cell
has to be formed. People can
inform the grievance
redressal cell about non-
compliance of the provisions
of the RTE Act and get their
grievance redressed.
Conclusion

No child pursuing
elementary education
shall be held back,
expelled or asked to
pass a board
examination.
