PHOSPHOGLYCERDS STUCTURES

& ITS BIOLOGICAL ROLE

What is “Phosphglyceride”?
• It’s a complex lipid
• Consisting of phosphoric acid, nitrogen base,
alcohol and fatty acids
• This compound lipids are major component of
cell membranes.
• Phospholipids has hydrophilic head (water
loving) and hydrophobic tail (water fear )
GENERAL STUCTURE OF PHOSPHOGLYCERIDE

 This lipid cconsisting glycerine has GY FATTY ACID

a back bone CE
RI FATTY ACID
 It’s a hydrocarbon consisting of N
three carbon atom
 And two fatty acid group( one is
saturated and another are Phosphoric Acid Alcohol
unsaturated )
 These fatty acid, phosphors and
alcoholic groups are attached by
formation of “ester bond”
Biological Role of Phosphoglycerid

 Phosphoglycerd are syntheses in ER

(Endoplasmic reticulate) where they have
essential protein
 Triacylglycerol is helpful for storage and
secretion
 It is also help in cellular signal
transduction
