What is Contemporary Art? Is it the same as being modern? CONTEMPORARY ART -generally refers to art being created now.
CONTEMPORARY -is derived from the LATIN prefix con, which means “together” or with,”
-tempus, which means “time”
ART produced after 1965.. -this is the adhered to by most museums when defining their collections of contemporary art.
ART produced since the 1960’s
-is taken as a reference point of the change-over from Modern to contemporary. Common Tendencies are: To describe the present as “modern”. Being modern means being up to date and technologically advanced. Being modern is equated with being contemporary.
