Introduction
The elements of any publication are
referred to as objects in Publisher. One
kind of item you have experience with is
text boxes. Publisher also provides building
blocks and shapes as decorative items.
You will learn how to make and alter
shapes and building blocks in this session.
Additionally, you'll learn how to organize,
align, and arrange objects of all kinds.

How to insert a shape?
1. Select the Insert tab, then locate the Illustrations group.

2. Click the Shapes drop-


down command.

mouse until the shape is
the desired size.

5. Release the mouse button.


The shape will be added to
your publication.
How to resize a shape?
1. Select the shape.
2. Click and drag one of the sizing handles on the
corners and sides of the text box until it is the
desired size.
You can:
• Drag the top or bottom sizing handles to
modify shape height
• Drag the side handles to modify shape width
• Drag the corner handles to modify height and
width at the same time

3. To rotate the shape, click
and drag the green handle.

4. Some shapes also have one or more


yellow handles that can be used to modify
the shape. For example, with this sun shape
you can adjust the diameter of the center
circle and the length of the points

program on your computer.

top left corner of the
screen, and select
"Open" to open the
publication you want to
modify.

3. Select the shape you want to modify
by clicking on it. You will see the shape's
handles appear on the edges and corners
of the shape.

4. Click on the "Format" tab in the


ribbon at the top of the screen.

5. Choose the attribute you want
to modify, such as size, color, or
shape, from the "Shape Styles" or
"Shape Fill" sections of the
ribbon.

6. Use the available tools and options to adjust


the shape as needed. For example, to resize the
shape, click and drag one of the handles on the
edges or corners of the shape. To change the
color of the shape, select a new color from the
color palette.

7. Preview the changes by
clicking on the "Preview"
button in the "Print Preview"
section of the ribbon.

8. Save your changes by clicking on


"File" in the top left corner of the
screen, and selecting "Save" or "Save
As" to save the modified publication.

1.First Locate the Building
Blocks group by selecting the
Insert tab.

1. To create a selection box around
the items you wish to align, click and
drag your mouse. Now that all of the
objects are selected, they will all have
sizing handles.

2. Locate the Arrange group by clicking


the Format tab.
