SDG s
Goal No.

14
(Oliveira, 2020)
• SDG 14 aims to manage, address and
protect marine and coastal ecosystems
from pollution and ocean acidification
according to sustainable practices.

• It expected to mitigate some of the

challenges through the imposition of
international marine laws and
regulations against the practices
polluting marine resources.

Organization:
Atlantic Sea Farms sources kelp and produces kelp-based products. Kelp plays an
important role in maintaining a healthy coastal ecosystem.
Atlantic Sea farms are approved by “Ocean

Action:
ASF collaborates with fishermen to grow kelp sustainably during offseason. They
run the largest kelp farm at Western Hemisphere.

Community Support:
By 2009, They had generated US$500K to fishing communities within two years.

Marine Sustainability:
Managed to reduce an average of 8000 lbs of carbon and 200lbs of nitrogen
annually from the ocean per farm.
