The Gate
The Gate is an urban project which aims to improve the quality of life of
the local residents by means such as promoting tourism, preserving the
local history, and adding all the essential elements of a well sustained
city; all while keeping the essence of the community intact. With our
proposal, the area will become the main transportation and economic
zone of the area. With the grand gate at the entrance of the site, the
area gains a sense of dynamic attraction. The gate also represents the
joining of locals and tourists in terms of cultural and economic
backgrounds. The addition of our energy plant that turns garbage into
energy we also aim to reduce the carbon footprint of the area. The hilly
terrain gives the site meaning and dynamism while providing the
residents a clear landscape and interesting views. They also help us
buffer the site. The focus of our proposal are the middle-class people
residing in the area currently who desperately need to elevate their
current quality of life.

Conclusion
What we learned from this assignment and
How we can promote and spread our ideas for a better city in the
future:

With this assignment, we learned how important connection is for any project. Once we have the connection to our
site regarding roads, community, geography, and alignment; it is easier to picture the end result. Research is
another main tool to know what we’re dealing with and how to make it work. Site analysis also helped us to bring
our project to the level we envisioned as knowing the environment we have helps us have a critical view on the
issues.
We learned that no matter the scale of a project we need to stick by the guidelines that we have and not to rush
our creative thinking process. A perfect city is built when its designers carefully evaluate all possible outcomes and
design accordingly.

In the future, we hope that designers build for the people. Urbanization does not have to mean throwing out the
essence of the place to replace it with a “modern cover”. We need to preserve and promote the history of the place
for the project to be more desired, appreciated and respected.
