ADJECTIVES

GROUP 1
ADJECTIVES
 Words that modify or describe a noun or pronoun
are called adjectives. Adjectives tell about the
qualities of people, places, events, ideas, and
things.
 Example:
∙ Mother is hardworking.(quality)
∙ She has a round face.(shape)
∙ They own a huge building.(size)
∙ He’s wearing a pink shirt.(color)
∙ He reprimanded his soul seven times.(number)
PREDICATE ADJECTIVES
 An adjective that follows a linking verb is called a
predicate adjective. A predicate adjective describes
the subject of the sentence.

EXAMPLE:
Life is eternal
Poets are imaginative
ARTICLES
ARTICLES
 The articles a, an and the are adjectives. A and an
are indefinite articles because they do not refer to a
specific person or thing. The is the definite article
because it points out more particular items.

Indefinite articles:
A car is necessity for some.
Definite articles:
The tires of her car are bew.
