What is Research?

Research means identify any

problem and analyzing the
problem and giving solution.
What is Data?

Data is a collection of information

gathered by observations,
measurements, research or analysis.
They may consist of facts, numbers,
names, figures or even description
of things. Data is organized in the
form of graphs, charts or tables
What is Research data?

Research data is any information that

has been collected, observed,
generated or created to validate
original research findings. Research
data may be arranged or formatted in
a such a way as to make it suitable
for communication, interpretation
and processing. Data comes in many
formats, both digital and physical.
TYPES OF DATA
Once you know the difference between them, you can know how to use
them.

QUALITATIVE DATA:- The qualitative data includes the observations

that cannot be calculated or computed. Instead some attributes or
characteristics are represented through this data. They represent
descriptions that we may observe but cannot compute or calculate it.

Examples of qualitative data include honesty, wisdom, intelligence,

creativity.
QUANTITATIVE DATA: The quantitative data can only be measured and they
do not explain anything about the data. This is because these data include numbers
that can be calculated. These can be represented numerically and mathematical
calculations can be performed over them, unlike qualitative data.

For example, we can find out the total number of students who play indoor games
and the total number of students who play outdoor games, or the number of
students in the class who have scored above 40 marks in English. The information
which will be retrieved by this data will be numerical.
Primary Data: Data that has been
generated by the researcher
himself/herself, surveys, interviews,
experiments, specially designed for
understanding and solving the research
problem at hand

Secondary Data :-Secondary data

means data collected by someone else
earlier. Surveys, observations,
experiments, questionnaire, personal
interview.
Conclusion:

 The kind of data analysis that can be done depends on the data
gathering techniques used.
 Qualitative and Quantitative data may be collected from any of the
main data gathering techniques: interviews, questionaries. And
observation.
 Quantitative data analysis for interaction design usually involves
calculating percentage and average.
