Component 2:
Lesson Purpose
RECOUNT
Recounts generally have 3 stages:
• Firstly, similar to a narrative, they begin with who is
involved, and when and where the events happen
(sometimes called an Orientation);
• Secondly, they then outline the sequence of events;
• Thirdly, and this an optional section, there may be a
comment on the events.
Component 3:

• Narrative (a spoken or written account of connected
events)
• Recount (give an account of an event or experience)
• Setting (where an even takes place)
• Crisis (time of intense difficulty or danger)
• Resolution (a solution to a crisis)
• Sequence of events (the order in which things
happen)
