Amelia became popular from being the first woman to travel


across the Atlantic Ocean by plane.

She was determined to accomplish many things, to prove that


women can also fly.
Examples:

 She was the first woman to make a solo round trip flight across US
 Became first person to fly from Hawaii to California
 She set the record flight around the world along the Equator
 Set women’s speed record of 181 mph
Impact on Women’s Rights
Amelia was also very influential in breaking boundaries for
women.

She drove and played sports.

She was financially independent which was not common for


women of that time period.
She also had her own clothing line „Amelia Earhart Fashions”.
Achievements
 Amelia was the first female to receive the Air Force Distinguished
Flying Cross
 She made a record of flying at 14 000 feet by any woman
She wrote „The Fun of It” about her journey across the ocean
She was awarded the National Geographic Society’s gold medal.
