Research Background

• Students’ mental health influences student achievement, enthuasiasm and

motivation to learn at school. The existence of students’ unrevealed problems, such
as interpersonal students’ conflicts, will affect students' mental health.
• From observations made at MTS Negeri 3 Sanggau during pre-cycle activities, it was
found that:
 the students had problems regarding interpersonal relationships, problems with
students, and problems with teachers, and parents.
 They violated school rules as well as made teachers angry.
This conflict occurs due to a lack of communication, cooperation, and collaboration
among the conflicting parties. Then, it causes students to feel that they have pent-up
anger that will burden them and can cause them to be lazy to study.
• In response to this, it is necessary to carry out an assertive communication education
campaign. It will open students' minds so they can appreciate their lives by changing their
thinking to be able to communicate well.
