“A little effort towards saving
the environment is better than

INTRODUCTION

According to Douglas and Holland, ‘the term

environment' is utilised to describe, in the
aggregate, all the external factors, influences
and conditions which affect the life, nature,
behaviour, and the growth, development, and
maturity of living organisms.’
ENVIRONMENT

The environment plays a

vital role in the existence of
life on the planet Earth. The
environment is derived from
the French word “Environ”,
which means “surrounding”.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

Environmental conservation can be

defined as the care taken to protect the
environment from being destroyed by
human and natural disasters.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION

It is defined as any change or disturbance to the

environment perceived as deleterious or
undesirable.
Environmental Awareness

It is an awareness of the natural

environment and the choices
that either promote its well-
being or cause it more harm.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Therefore, the
investigation problem
has been stated as "a
study of
environmental
awareness of science

stream.
WHY REVIEW OF LITERATURE

 It involves an interpretation of old

studies.

 It serves to identify ‘themes’ and ‘models”

for your research.

 Is a collection of relevant sources on a

topic

 It compels researchers to distinguish

current sources from old sources.

There was no
significant difference in
environmental
awareness among male

students.
SUGGESTION FOR
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS

The study found that most college students were further

motivated on the topic.

- It is recommended that the teachers,

college authorities, parents, and non-
government organisations prioritise
environmental awareness.
- To encourage and motivate the
students to participate in
environmental programmes and
activities.
SUGGESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDIES

The study can be replicated on a large sample by

including more districts to present students.
 In the present study, the sample was delimited to
Sikkim. However, can be extended to the other states
 The research study can be replicated in different
parts of the country with a large sample a various
age groups
 Similar studies can be conducted on secondary
school students from various districts
 The present study was delimited to the sample of
two streams (Arts and Science). However, it can be
extended to various streams also.
CONCLUSION
 The study found that most of
the students from the
Humanities seemed more
environmentally aware than
the Science students.

 Further,
the male students
seemed more environmentally
aware than their counterparts.
