1. Examine existing goods and services

Are you satisfied with the product? What do
other people who use the product say about it?
How can it be improved?
2. Examine the present and future needs
Look and listen to what the customers,
institutions, and communities are missing
in terms of goods and services.

3. Examine how the needs are being satisfied

Needs for the products and services are
referred to as market demand.
4. Examine the available resources
Observe what materials or skills are available
in abundance in your area.

publications on new products and techniques or
advances in technology

magazines such as Newsweek, Reader’sDigest,
A product is a tangible item that is
put on the market for acquisition,
attention, or consumption, while a service
is an intangible item, which arises from the
output of one or more individuals. In most
cases services are intangible, but products
are not always tangible.
Services can be described as perishable
but not imperishable. A perishable service
simply means that it’s short-term.
Preferably, such a service is consumed as
soon as it is produced. Unlike products,
the service cannot be stored for later use.

Different types of services available in the
market:
1. Rented-Goods Services - are the property of
someone else that is leased out to a customer for
a certain period of time.
2. Owned-Goods Services - services that are
rendered to owners of various goods.
3. Non-Goods - services that do not involve the
movement of any goods from one party to
another.
