During Adolescence
Year
Human development is a lifelong
process of physical, mental, emotional,
social, moral spiritual and environmental
growth and change. This describes eight
stages through a healthy developing
human should pass from infancy to late
adulthood
1. Infancy - stage ranges from birth to 18
months of age.
2. Early Childhood - stage ranges from 18
months to 3 years
3. Middle Childhood - stage extends from 3-
5 years
4. Late Childhood - stage ranges from 5-12
years
5. Adolescence - stage ranges from 5-12 years
period of transition from childhood to adulthood
which extends from 12-20 years
6. Early Adulthood - stage extends from 20-30
years
7. Mature Adulthood - stage ranges from 30-65
years
8. Old age - stage is the extension after 65 years
till death.

Adolescence, the transition between
childhood and adulthood, is a stressful period
of life characterized by observable physical,
mental, emotional, social and behavioral
changes.
1.Physical Changes

3. Moral-spiritual Changes
►Adolescents try to find out who they really are
and analyze their strengths and weaknesses.
► They understand themselves better and learn to
accept and like themselves, including their
weaknesses.
►They learn the different house rules imposed by
their parents that promote order and harmony at
home.
4. Emotional Changes

►More responsive to rewards than punishment


►More impulsive which makes them prone to being
hurt and in danger.
►Boys are sexually active and become more
aggressive.
►Girls become more self-conscious because of the
changes that are happening to them that gives
them a feeling of insecurity
5. Mental Changes
►Adolescents are egocentric ; they argue to
convince and exhibit independent , critical
thought.
►Adolescents prefer active and cooperative learning
activities over passive learning experiences.
►Enjoy learning skills to apply to real life problems
and situations.
►Have tendency to become bored with routine
activities ; they need to be challenged.
