Liquid Pressure

Ishaan Vinod 8A
How is pressure exerted inside a liquid?
• Pressure in a liquid is exerted both downward and towards the sides.
Pressure increases as an object goes deeper into a water
body.
Pressure increases as an object goes deeper into a water
body.

Area remains same

Weight Increases, and so
does the force

If force increases, pressure

increases.

Therefore, pressure exerted

on an object increases as it
goes deeper into the water.
Experiment
Real-Life Example
• People tell that it is impossible to go down the Mariana Trench, as by
the time you get under the surface, you will be crushed like a tin can.

• This is because the pressure exerted by the water is so high when you
go deep, that you would get crushed.
