Objectives:
At the end of this lesson you should be
able to;
 define triangle.
 construct a triangle using length of their
sides.
TRIANGLE

A triangle is a plane figure bounded by three

straight lines. The sum total of all the angles
in a triangle is 180. Triangles are described by
 The length of their sides.
 The sizes of their angles and
 The combination of both length of sides and
sizes of angle.
A TRIANGLE
TYPES OF TRIANGLES
Constructing a triangle given the
length of the three sides
 Draw the horizontal line and mark off the base of
the triangle BC.
 With centre B and a radius equal to the length of
one of the sides of the triangle, draw an arc.
 With centre C and a radius equal to the length of
the other side, draw another arc to cut the
previous one at A.
 join AC and BA to give the triangle ABC.
HOW TO CONTRUCT A TRIANGLE
How to draw a scalene triangle.
Constructing a triangle given the
length of the three sides
 Draw the horizontal line and mark off the base of
the triangle BC = 6cm.
 With centre B and a radius equal to 4cm, draw an
arc.
 With centre C and a radius equal to 5cm, draw
another arc to cut the previous one at A.
 join AC and BA to give the triangle ABC.
