John 6: 25-35,51-58
This bread was Jesus himself. Since food can give life only when one
approaches and partakes of it, one has to come to Jesus, listen to
Him in order to obtain the eternal life he has to offer. That is what is
called faith.
Jesus is the Son of God who became
human in order to tell us personally of
the greatness of the Father’s love and His
offer of life and salvation.
If we have to eat the flesh and blood of
Jesus in order to obtain eternal life,
what had to happen so that Jesus may
give us life?
He had to die.
In the Eucharist, how do we receive Jesus as the Bread of Life and
Living Bread?
As the Bread of Life, Jesus proclaims his Word in the first part of
the Mass
As the Living Bread, he gives himself in consecrated bread and
wine in the second part of the Mass
Luke 22:7-8,14, 19-20
