Introduction :
• In plain English, family planning is the process of deciding when to
have children.
• Family planning allows individuals and couples to anticipate and
attain their desired number of children and the spacing and timing of
their birth. It is achieved through the use of contraceptive methods and
the treatment of the involuntary infertility. (WHO, Department of
reproductive health and research)
• In addition to enhancing women's health, family planning also seeks to
enhance the health of the family and, ultimately, the nation.
Objectives :
Main Objective :
• To increase access to and use of high-quality family planning services
in order to improve the health condition of mothers and children as
well as the general quality of life of the entire family.
Specific Objectives :
• To expand access to and utilization of high-quality FP services that are
acceptable to both individuals and couples and safe, efficient, and
effective. Increasing access for marginalized, impoverished, dalit, and
rural populations will be a particular focus.
Objectives :
• To create an enabling environment for increasing access to quality
family planning services to men and women.
• To increase demand of family planning services by implementing
various behaviour change communication activities.
• To increase and use, sustain contraceptive and reduce unmet need for
FP, unintented pregnencies and contraception discontinuation.
Strategies
• Access to information and education : Individuals and communities
should have easy access to accurate and comprehensive data about
reproductive health, methods of contraception, and family planning
options. Education programs can help raise awareness, myths and
promote responsible decision making.
• Contraceptive Services : No matter their financial level or location, all
people should have access to a variety of safe, inexpensive, and
effective contraceptive options. This include providing contraceptives
through health clinics, community based distribution programs and
pharmacies.
Strategies
• Empowerment of Women : Gender equality and women's empowerment
are essential for successful family planning. Insuring women have
access to education, employment opportunity, and decision making
power enables dam to make informed choices about their reproductive
health. Women should have autonomy over their bodies.
• Quality health services: strengthening health care system is crucial for
effective family planning. This involves trainings healthcare providers
to offer comprehensive reproductive health services, including
counselling, contraceptive provision, and management of potential
complications.
Strategies:

• Integration with maternal and child health services: family planning


should be integrated into existing maternal and child health programs
to insure of continuum of health care. This includes preconception
counselling, antenatal and postnatal care, and and access to safe
abortion services where legally given.
• Targeted out reach and awareness campaigns: engaging community
leaders, religious institutions, and local organisations can help
overcome cultural and social barriers to family planning. Tailored
outreached program should address specific needs and concerns of
different populations including adolescence marginalised groups and
doors in remote areas.
Mission:
• Promote reproductive health: the mission of family planning is to
prioritize and promote reproductive health for individuals and couples.
Involves providing access to comprehensive reproductive health
services, including contraception, preconception care, antenatal and
postnatal care and management of reproductive health issues.
• Enables informed decision-making: family planning aims to empower
individual and couples with accurate information and education
regarding reproductive health, contraception methods, and family
planning options. This enables them to making informed decisions about
when do have, how many children do have and the spacing between
pregnancy.
Mission:
• Ensure universal access to contraception: samuel darling program
strive to ensure that individuals have access to wide range of safe,
effective and affordable contraception methods. Universal access to
contraception enable individual to exercise their reproductive rights,
prevent unintended pregnancies and protect their health.
• Reduce maternal and child mortality: family planning blues or crucial
role in reducing maternal and child mortality rates. By enabling
individuals to space their pregnancies, and avoid unintended
pregnancies family planning helps reduce the risks associated with
pregnancy and childbirth.
Mission:

• Empower women: a key missing of family planning is to promote gender


equality and empower women. Family planning program aims to provide
woman with control over their reproductive choices, access to education and
employment opportunity and ability to make decisions about their own
bodies and lives.
• Support sustainable development: family planning contributes to sustainable
development by addressing population growth and it's impact on resources,
environment and socioeconomic development. By helping individuals and
couples plan their families, family planning programs can contribute to
poverty reduction, education and overall social and economic well-being.
Activities:
• Condom Box Distribution
• Provision of regular comprehensive FP service
• Provision of long acting reversible services(LARCs)
• FP strengthening program through the use of DMT (Decision Making Tool)
and MEC (Medical Eligibility Criteria) wheel.
• Expansion of family planning service at urban health clinic.
• Micro planning for addressing unmet need of FP in low modern CPR
(Contraceptive Prevalence Rate) district Permanent FP Methods or Voluntary
Surgical Contraception (VSC)
• Implementation of PPP program at high population district
Activities:

•Development of institutionalized family planning
•service center as a training center
•Provision of VP service to increase FP service user
•Integration of FP and immunization service
•Satellite clinic services for long acting reversible
•contraceptives
•FP updates orientation for Obs/Gyne doctors and other key players
•Roving ANM (RANM) for FP in Disadvantaged Community (Mushar, Dom,
Chamar, etc.)
Problems/ challenges in family planning:
• Religious beliefs
• Use of unproven family planning methods
• Misconceptions about family planning methods
• Misconception about side effects
• Increasing uses of emergency contraceptives and increase in abortion
• High unmet needs
Recommendation:
• Strengthen satellites clinics for long acting reversible contraceptive
(LARC) methods
• Improve theFP education, information and services for Adolescent
• Strengthen/expand capacity of FP training sites
• Effective awareness about importance of family planning in remote
areas.
• Proper to both individuals and couples.
• Proper pregnancies.
