RESEARCH
Prepared by:
Baby Jean B. Acid
PURPOSE OF RESEARCH
EXPLORATORY
This is where the researcher has an idea or has
observed something and seeks to understand more
about it.
Defined as the initial research into a hypothetical or
theoretical idea.
PURPOSE OF RESEARCH
Descriptive
Defined as attempts to explore and explain while
providing additional information about a topic.
This is where research is trying to describe what is
happening in more detail, filling in the missing parts
and expanding our understanding.
PURPOSE OF RESEARCH
Explanatory
Defined as an attempt to connect ideas to understand
cause and effect, meaning researcher want to explain
what is going on.
A research does not occur until there is enough
understanding to begin to predict what will come next
with some accuracy.
The purpose of research is to study based on collected
and analyzed data. It explores, describes and explains.
MAJOR SECTIONS
of RESEARCH
MANUSCRIPT
What are the parts of a Research Paper?
Hypothesis
- A research hypothesis is a statement of expectation
or prediction that will be tested by research.
- It enables researchers not only to discover a
relationship between variables, but also to predict a
relationship based on theoretical guidelines and/or
empirical evidence.
CHAPTER 1: THE PROBLEM AND ITS
BACKGROUND
Definition of Terms
-Defines the technical terms based on how
they are used in the study, specifically in the
title.
- This aims to provide the readers or future
researchers with the basic terminologies
that are important to understand the paper.
CHAPTER 2: REVIEW OF RELATED
LITERATURE
- A literature review is a search, summary and evaluation
of the available past and current literature related to the
research problem.
Important purposes:
Presents the rationale of your hypothesis and helps you
rationalize the significance of your investigation.
Your understanding with previous research helps you
interpret your study results.
CHAPTER 2: REVIEW OF RELATED
LITERATURE
Literature review also shows your readers that you have
an in-depth grasp of your subject, and that you
understand where your own research fits into and adds
to an existing body of knowledge.
CHAPTER 2: REVIEW OF RELATED
LITERATURE
Theoretical Framework
- Is the structure that can hold or support a
theory of a research work. It presents the
theory which explains why the problem under
study exists.
- Thus, the theoretical framework is but a theory
that serves as a basis for conducting research.
CHAPTER 2: REVIEW OF RELATED
LITERATURE
Conceptual Framework
- It describes and explains the concepts to be used
in the study, their relationships with each other,
and how they are to be measured.
- It is a written or visual presentation that “explains
either graphically, or in narrative form, the main
things to be studied”
and the presumed relationship among them.
CHAPTER 2: REVIEW OF RELATED
LITERATURE
Summary of Findings
- Summarizes the interpretation of data given in
Chapter 4. These should directly answer your
statement of the problem.
CHAPTER 5: SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND
RECOMMENDATIONS
Conclusions
- Out of your findings, your conclusions are
based. This provides the answer for every
statement of the problem.
- This is where you will prove your hypotheses
and assumptions.
CHAPTER 5: SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND
RECOMMENDATIONS
Recommendations
- This includes the recommended actions that
should be done after the conduct of the study
such as further assessment of the subject,
focus on other factors, etc.
