OBJECTIVES:
●At the end of the lesson, You should be able to:
●C- Identify and describe the different types of chemical reaction.
●P- Classify the given chemical equations in each types of chemical
● reaction;
●A- Relate the types of chemical reaction in everyday lives
Guide Questions
 Based your activity what do you think is the
connection of those terms with our lesson today?
Guide Questions
 When you hear the word Chemical reaction what
comes into your mind?
Chemical Reaction
 is a process in which one or more substances are
converted to one or more different substances. In
other words, chemical reaction is the process
where a material is transformed into a new one,
possessing a new composition.
Guide Questions
 How is the reactant different from the product?
Video Presentation
 Listen and watch attentively. Please take down
the necessary information. Understand the video.
After that, you are going to answer and share your
thoughts and ideas about the types of chemical
reactions.

Guide Questions
 Based on what you watched. What are the
different types of chemical reactions, how do they
differ, and give examples?
The first reaction is
called Combination/
Synthesis reaction. It
is a reaction when two
or more reactants
combine to form a
single product.
h
C + O CO

H +O H
The Second reaction is
called Decomposition
reaction where in
single reactant breaks
down into simpler
ones.
NaCl Na + Cl

H Na N O
+ +
The third is the
Combustion reaction.
This is when oxygen
combines with
hydrocarbon to form
water and carbon
dioxide
C₄H₁₀+ O₂ CO₂ +
H₂O
C₃H₇OH + O₂ CO₂ +
H₂O
The fourth one is
Single Displacement
reaction. This is when
elements replaces
another element from a
compound.
The more active
elements takes the
place of the less active
element in a
compound.
Fe + CuCl₂ Cu + FeCl₂
Cu + AgNO₃ Ag + Cu(NO₃)₂
The last one is Double
Displacement reaction.
This is when the positive
ions (cations) and
negative ions (anions) of
different compounds
switch places
Forming two entirely
different compounds.
BaCl₂ + Na₂SO₄ BaSO₄ + NaCl
Activity:
Classify the following unbalanced chemical equations according to the
different types of reactions. Use the given code below to classify each
reaction

Code:

CR = Combination DR = Decomposition
SRR = Single Replacement DRR = Double Replacement
CoR = Combustion
Code:
CR = Combination DR = Decomposition
SRR = Single Replacement DRR = Double Replacement
CoR = Combustion

1. O + N → NO
2 2 2

2. HBr + NaOH → NaBr + H O

3. CaSO + Mg(OH) → Ca(OH) + MgSO

4 2 2 4

4. CaCO3 → CaO + CO2

5. H2 O → H2 + O2
Any volunteer who wants to summarize
what we have discussed today?
