Two Interrelated Processes
1.Cell Proliferation (Cell Production)
Consist of overproduction of neurons and interconnections.

Neuron - A cell of nervous system that conducts nerve


impulses.
Interconnection (Synapse) - Refers to the connection between
neurons that allows neurons to transfer information.
2.Cell Pruning (Cell Elimination)
Involves the selective elimination of excess cells
and the cutting back of connections.
Lateralization (Development) of Spatial Perception - The
ability to identify and act a relationship between objects
and space.
