What to do after mpox infection ?

A. Taking care of yourself
• Use gauze or bandages to cover the rash to limit spread to others
• Don't pop or scratch lesions from the rash.
• Do not shave the area with the rash until the scabs have fallen off and a new
layer of skin has formed.
• Keep skin lesions clean and dry.
• Wash hands often, especially after direct contact with the rash.
• Wear a well-fitting mask around the people.
• Avoid contact with the animals.
• Eat healthy and get plenty of rest.
• ISOLATE YOURSELF.
B. Managing symptoms
• For pain & fever: OTC drugs like Paracetamol & Ibuprofen can be
used.
• For rash in mouth: Rinse with salt water at least 4 times a day.
• DO NOT TRY TO TOUCH OR SCRATCH THE RASH.
• For painful rash: Topical benzocaine/lidocaine gels are used.
• For itching: Oral antihistaminics are used.
• For body rashes: Warm bath may help the itching.
Prevention measures
• If you're close contact, vaccination is a must.
• Avoid contact with infected animals (especially sick or dead animals)
• Avoid contact with bedding and other materials contaminated with
virus.
• Thoroughly cooking all foods that contain animal meat or parts.
• Wash hands frequently with soap and water. (8 step ALWAYS HELPS)
• Wear masks to cover mouth and nose, NOT CHIN.
• Practice safe sex.
• For health personnels, use PPE.
