MERCURY
THE CLOSEST PLANET TO THE SUN
NOW WHAT IS MERCURY?
MERCURY IS THE SMALLEST PLANET IN OUR SOLAR SYSTEM. IT'S A LITTLE BIGGER THAN EARTH'S
MOON. IT IS THE CLOSEST PLANET TO THE SUN, BUT IT'S ACTUALLY NOT THE HOTTEST. VENUS IS
HOTTER. ALONG WITH VENUS, EARTH, AND MARS, MERCURY IS ONE OF THE ROCKY PLANETS.
It is also located in-front of the ‘goldilocks zone’, the zone in which life can be harboured. Thus this
makes it too hot to contain liquid water for life
Now, let’s watch a video about mercury!

So what have you learnt from this video?
RECAP ON WHAT WE HAVE LEARNT TODAY

We have learnt that Mercury is the closest planet to the sun.we have also learnt that though it has
such proximity to the sun, it is definitely not the hottest. The side that faces the sun has an
estimated temperature of 800°F (425°C) while the latter has a estimated temperature of -300°F (-
185°C). It also does not not have a steady atmosphere.
