NANGA MERIT LONGHOUSES, KAPIT DISTRICT
INTRODUCTION

Nanga Merit Sub-District is a sub-district within Kapit Division where


there is administrative centre such as Nanga Merit Sub-District Office,
Klinik Kesihatan Nanga Merit, Pekan Nanga Merit and Pejabat
Pertanian Nanga Merit located. Nanga Merit Sub-District is inhabited
approximately by 10,000 number of population with thirty-seven (37)
longhouses and two (2) primary school.

Currently, there is no road connecting residents of Nanga Merit to Nanga
Merit Sub-District Office, Klinik Kesihatan Nanga Merit and Pekan Nanga
Merit. Now, the residents of Nanga Merit have only one alternative route to
access the public facilities, which is to use boat through the Batang Rajang
river.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

1. Construct new JKR Standard R3 asphaltic concrete main road with length of
approximately 0.5 km and three (3) new JKR Standard R1 asphaltic
concrete spur road with length of approximately 0.3 km.
2. Drainage system and all the necessary road features.

Rigid Pavement

1. JKR Bahagian Kapit has written an official memo ref no.


PWD/R.130/Pt.1(11) dated 3rd August 2023 in requesting the road design for
this project to be using rigid pavement. Therefore, this is put up as an option
for the project.
