2 Write on Your Journal: Reflections on The Concepts

and Value of Strategic Thinking and Innovation

As school leaders, the way we think can change our school. It is imperative therefore that we should think
outside the box. With the identified school challenges it is a must for us to be strategic thinkers and innovators.
To do this we should initiate innovations in our school by applying the concepts and values of strategic thinking and
innovation.

In this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, the delivery of learning in our school is everyone’s concern. Project DECODING
(Development of Contextualized Reading Materials) and Project DREAMS (Develop Good Readers to Engage and Achieve
More to Succeed) were initiated to improve primarily the reading level of our learners. We believe that by involving our
parents and encouraging volunteers in our school reading program, we can lessen the number of non-readers in the school.
Activities such as School-Based Parent Involvement in Education (PIE) and Day with the Stakeholders were also initiated to
strengthen the school-community partnership. School programs, projects, and activities were presented during the conduct
of the said activities. As a school head, I believe that involving our stakeholders during the planning, implementation,
monitoring, and evaluation of the activities will be of great help in the attainment of our dreams and that is to make our
school, a better place for learning.
With the above innovations, I know we can surpass the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
