BLANKING PUNCHING
LET'S HAVE A REVIEW FIRST!
WHAT IS A PCB
WHAT IS A PCB?
A printed circuit board, or PC board, or
PCB, is a non-conductive material with
conductive lines printed or etched. Electronic
components are mounted on the board and the
traces connect the components together to form
a working circuit or assembly.
BLANKING
A blank PCB is quite simply an empty circuit
board free from any of the components that are
installed to create a functioning circuit board. A
blank circuit board is sometimes known as a
'copper-clad' circuit board, due to the coating of
copper the board has around it.
CUTTING
There are different ways to cut PCBs. Most
factories use specialized v-cut machines. However,
some use a stencil, form grooves around the PCB
material, and snap the PCB out using a punching
machine.
PUNCHING
The punching method is the process of
singular PCBs being punched out of the panel
through the use of a special fixture. The punching
fixture has sharp blades on one part and supports
on the other. A different die is required for each
board and dies must frequently be replaced to
maintain sharpness.
DRILLING
PCB drilling (which is also known as printed
circuit board drilling), is the process of creating
holes, slots and other cavities in an electronic
circuit board. During the PCB drilling process, a
number of different hole types are drilled.
