OBJECTIVE

An isolated bidirectional dc-dc converter having high conversion ratio and
high efficiency.
 Isolated bidirectional DC/DC converter can operate in interleaved manner for
the reduction of input current ripples.
Coupled inductor is incorporated for galvanic isolation and higher voltage gain
achievement .
ABSTRACT
The proposed method presents an isolated bidirectional interleaved
converter with minimum active switches to achieve high conversion ratio.
The proposed converter has symmetric structure for easy control, and
incorporates two coupled inductors for galvanic isolation and high voltage
ratio achievement.
A dual-LCD snubber with common resonant inductor at low-voltage side is
in charge of leakage energy recycling for efficiency improvement.
 In addition, the converter can obtain interleaved terminal current at low-
voltage side for lowering current ripples, no matter in boost mode or buck
mode.
INTRODUCTION
A comprehensive DG not only includes renewable energy sources like
photovoltaic (PV), wind turbine, and fuel cells but also the storage systems, which
requires bidirectional dc/dc converters (BDCs) to handle the power flow direction
for charging or discharging the storage systems.
 Bidirectional converters are widely incorporated in hybrid electric vehicles
(HEV), electric vehicle (EV), uninterruptible power supply (UPS), battery energy
storage systems (BESS), and renewable energy system.
A BDC in the aforementioned systems should have the ability of high conversion
voltage ratio. Thus, it can serve as an energy interface between low-voltage
storage and high-voltage DC-bus.
 The conventional non-isolated topologies derived from basic DC/DC converter
can achieve both step-up and step-down functions by means of replacing diodes
with active switches.
Cont…
A modified structure based on two DC/DC converters in cascade is a
feasible approach to obtain higher voltage ratio. Nevertheless, component
count, conversion efficiency, and high voltage stress on semiconductor
devices will become another issue.
Besides, the requirement of more active switches will result in complex
control circuitry and increases cost. Like most of high step-up non-isolated
DC/DC converters incorporating coupled inductors to obtain a much higher
voltage gain, the BDCs derived from the existing high step-up converter to
extend voltage ratio are presented.
However, the problems of galvanic isolation, soft switching, and/or a
large number of semiconductor devices still exist.

Existing System
 A novel interleaved highconversion-ratio bidirectional dc–dc converter
based on switchedcapacitors and coupled inductors. Series-connected
switched capacitorand inductor cells were used to increase the
voltageconversion ratio, reduce voltage stresses on power switches, realize
soft-charging/discharging of switched capacitors, andachieve autocurrent-
sharing in parallel inductors.
 The interleavedstructure combined with switched capacitors was adopted
to reducecurrent ripple at the side having lower voltage, thus
enablingapplications that require high power levels. In this paper, we
firstreview the status of high-voltage-ratio bidirectional dc–dc converters.
EXISTING SYSTEM
PROPOSED SYSTEM
An interleaved IBDC is proposed, which possesses the merits of high conversion ratio,
high efficiency, simple controller, and galvanic isolation.
 The IBDC is suitable for high power applications and energy storage systems. The
primary side of the proposed converter has two power legs, which are in interleaved
operation.
In addition, a dual-LCD snubber is introduced at the primary for leakage energy
recycling. In the secondary, quasi-series connection is designed to deal with high
voltage.
Based on the presented configuration, interleaved current at low-voltage side can be
obtained no matter in boost mode or buck mode. Development of the proposed IBDC is
illustrated.
Cont…

The converter is firstly derived from a single power leg with an LCD snubber. Next,
two in-parallel power legs construct an interleaved configuration along with two
separate LCD snubbers.
Quasi-series connection stacks up terminal voltage. Then, the two separate LCD
snubbers are integrated to be a dual LCD snubber to obtain the final IBDC structure.

ADVANTAGES

Isolated DC-DC converters have high voltage isolation from several

hundreds to thousand volts depending on the type of standard .
Output can be configured to be either positive or negative or floating
ground for various equipment.
They have strong noise and interference blocking capability thus provide
the load with a cleaner DC source which is required by many sensitive
load(Medical Applications).
CONCLUSION
Bidirectional dc-dc converter having high conversion ratio and high
efficiency. The proposed converter can operate in interleaved manner for
the reduction of input current ripples. Moreover, coupled inductor is
incorporated for galvanic isolation and higher voltage gain achievement.
The energy stored in leakage inductance can be recycled by a dual-LCD
snubber instead of traditional RCD snubbers, which yields further efficiency
improvement.
inally, a 48-400V 400-W prototype is tested for validation, in which the
highest efficiency in step-up and step-down mode are 95.5 and 95.4%,
respectively.
