GROUP ACTIVITY
Materials Needed:
•1 pc used paper of any kind
•2 pcs candy wrapper
•1 pc small cardboard any
carton
•2 pcs leaves
•1 pc used cloth of any kind
•1 pair scissors
What To Do:
1. Using the pair of scissors,
cut each of the given
materials. Observe what
happens to the material.
2. Record your observations
in your notebook using the
table.

Solid materials can be cut. When
cut, these materials may change their
size and shape, but no new material is
formed. Hence, only the physical
appearance of the solid material is
changed when cut.
Not all solid materials can be cut
using simple scissors. Some solid
materials, like iron, steel, etc., can be
cut using sophisticated cutters (i.e.
metal cutters/machine cutters).
Cite examples where cutting
