• One thing that is undeniable for human needs is having a good health. The two
important factors that contribute to the good health is Working out and Dietary. Protein
plays an important role in the body for nourishing and building cells and muscles.
• Protein bar is one of the option for protein source that the body builder and the athlete
consume right away after working out without preparing or mixing.
I worked on a project and come up with an idea to innovate the protein bar by replacing
one or two ingredients.
• The first step is market research to know about the existing brands and analyze their
strategies and know about the competition. The important thing in the market research
is to understand the consumer preference.
One of the most significant limitations individuals face in their daily routines is
the constraint of time. However, they rush to choose the quickest option for
breakfast. While protein bars may appear appealing due to their convenience and
the perception of being a healthy choice, it’s important to delve deeper into this
choice.
Benefits of carob-
• Has twice the amount of calcium compared to cocoa.
• Is free of a migraine-triggering compound.
• Is caffeine and fat free.
• Carob contains polyphenols which are antioxidants known to reduce the risk of
heart disease.
• Carob is also an excellent source of vitamins and minerals.
• Carob is naturally high in fiber.
• Humans needs a wholesome food full of nutrients for their healthy lifestyle.
So, I come up with an idea of the Protein Bar to innovate this with natural
sweetener carob.
• The protein bar is the wholesome meal that fulfill the requirements of nutrients
and make you feel fuller for the long time because of the fibre content.
• A protein bar post workout will contribute to muscle repair and growth due to
their high protein content.
Reason to replace ingredients-
• Carob is one the plant-based ingredient that gives the chocolate flavor and the
sweetness.
• By doing the research in the market, the most popular flavor in the protein bar
is Chocolate (Dinuzzo, 2017, para 1). The material that gives the chocolate
flavor normally getting from Cocoa which contain of oxalate and no sweet
flavor, Oxalate is risk of developing kidney stone and reduce ability to absorb
calcium (Mcdermott,2018,para 5) in the body.
• During production sugar have added due to Cocoa has no sweet flavor. These 2
points as mentioned are the disadvantages of using cocoa as the main
ingredient for chocolate flavor in protein bar.
Project aim-
• This project is aiming to innovate the Protein bar in such a way healthier, more
comfortable to eat, and ease to pack and take away.
• The key features of making protein bar to be healthier are-
It's easy to identify how many grams of protein in each piece and then calculate how many
pieces to eat in a day to get the required amount needed.
It should be in a handy size like one bite that are package individually with aluminium foil
called primary packaging then will go for secondary packaging that are of paper based.

• Packaging of the product plays vital role to maintain the shelf life of the
product. In this, will go with primary packaging as well as secondary
packaging.
• Primary packaging is of aluminum foil which is a barrier for the moisture
content that protects the product from moisture. It provides barrier against
oxygen, light and odour.
• The shape color and the design of the foil is entirely in your control.
The existing product in the market package in the plastic laminates but in this project, I switch to the paper-based packaging for secondary packaging, because the paper-based material is eco-friendly in nature.

Reason for using primary packaging is to secure the product, so that the people can consume one bar directly and the other product remains the same because every bar is packaged individually.
Summary-
• In pursuit of a healthier and more convenient lifestyle, I worked on a project
and introduced a revolutionary concept: the Protein Bar, enhanced with the
natural sweetener carob. This innovation is a wholesome and nutrient-rich
solution to address the dietary needs of individuals who value their well-being.
• The protein bar is designed to be a complete and balanced meal, satisfying the
nutrient requirements while keeping you feeling full for an extended period, all
thanks to its high fiber content.
• This bar is not just snacking, but also nourishing the body with essential
nutrients for a healthier lifestyle.
