LONG RANGE PLANNING

 Challenging for beginning teachers

 Involves planning for the whole year
 scale planning we (teachers) do to meet goals for whole units and the entire school
year
 more complex and tactical and takes more time

Why is it important?
Long-range planning is a great way for teachers to stay organized. It also keeps them
focused on what they need to accomplish throughout the year. By taking the time to
plan out their units and themes, teachers can ensure that they are covering all of the
necessary content.
CURRICULUM MAPPING

- a method to align instruction with desired goals and program outcomes. It can also be used to explore
what is taught and how. The map or matrix: Documents what is taught and when. Reveals gaps in the
curriculum.

Why is it important?
- help educators take a student-centered approach to instruction. By visualizing the curriculum, educators
can identify opportunities to differentiate instruction, address individual student needs, and provide
appropriate support and challenges.
