Since she is portrayed against a dark background,
her form stands out vividly. The painting represents
a young woman with remarkable features, but the
eye is first drawn to the huge pearl earring she is
wearing on her right ear.The young woman's look is
enigmatic and somewhat introverted, and her eyes
remain fixed on the viewer. She seems to be caught

Klimt's earlier work, Portrait of a Young
Woman, according to an investigation of the
painting's X-ray from 1996. The original
painting, Portrait of a Young Woman, is
thought by art critics and historians to have
been a drawing of a woman the artist was
madly in love with. The painter then covered
the piece with the face of another woman
because of the woman's quick demise.

The Artists World
Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci was born on April 15,
1452 and died on May 15, 1519. He was a scientist,
mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, sculptor,
architect, botanist, composer, and writer.He was a man
with numerous abilities.Leanordo had a wide range of
interests, which added to his mystery.
Verrocchio, a painter and sculptor, gave him guidance
in the arts. He worked with wealthy Italian noblemen
for the majority of his life. He spent his final years in
a splendid house that the King of France had gifted to
him.His parents were never wed.His mother was a
maid who later remarried and had five
children.Leanordo lived with his mother for five years
before moving into his father's house, where he began
painting. When his father came upon one of his works,
he sold it to an art dealer in Florence.Leonardo was
fourteen years old in 1466 when his father took him to
Florence to work as Verrocchio's student.Leanordo
never had a love relationship or got married.Although
his sexual orientation remained in question, art
historian Raymond S. Stites said Leonardo had a
romantic relationship with Cecilia Gallerani, the
woman seen in his painting Lady with an Ermine.
