BACKGROUND
• A flammable hydrocarbon liquid that is frequently used as fuel is kerosene.

• Kerosene normally has a not unpleasant distinctive odor and is colorless or pale yellow.

• It is made of petroleum and is used as a fuel or fuel component for jet engines.

• Kerosene is made up of several hydrocarbons chemically. Depending on the source, its chemical makeup can vary,

but it typically comprises of 10–16 distinct hydrocarbon molecules with 10–16 carbon atoms each.

PROCESSING OF KEROSENE

These procedures for kerosene (petroleum) refinement are divided into 5 categories:

• Fractionation: is the separation of unrefined petroleum (lamp fuel) into groups of hydrocarbon compounds
• Conversion: procedures typically alter the dimensions of hydrocarbon molecules or reveal a still-uncertain
structural component.
• Treatment: cycles to set up the finished goods and schedule hydrocarbon streams for the additional
handling
• Formulating: is the process of blending and mixing hydrocarbon fractions, additives, and other additives to
create our finished product with certain performance properties. Best diesel distributor in Dubai

HYDROTREATING OF KEROSENE
• Kerosene hydrotreating is used to
improve crude kerosene distillate and
create products that meet specifications
and can be sold as kerosene and jet fuel.
• In aviation engines and fuel storage and
handling facilities, sulphur and aromatic
oils in the raw kerosene cuts arriving
from the raw distillation apparatus can
lead to corrosion issues.
• Some crude oils' raw kerosene feed
contains nitrogen, which might affect the
product's ability to maintain its color.

6
DEWAXING KEROSENE
• Catalytic dewaxing involves the selective
catalytic cracking of n-paraffins.
• Dewaxing is the term used to describe the
chemical removal of wax.
• The product's pour point is lowered and its
ratio of i-paraffins to n-paraffins is increased
because to this selective cracking.
• To avoid coking on the catalyst surfaces,
hydrogen is added to the feed. Catalytic
dewaxing's by-product, the cracking of n-
paraffins, creates distillate fuels like gasoline.

Aviation by Petrobras Kerosene is created by treating streams after atmospheric distillation and conversion
procedures.

2. JetA-1
JET A-1 is a fuel similar to kerosene. It is compatible with the majority of jet engines, including turboprops,
compression-ignition piston engines, helicopter turbine engines, and civil and military jet aircraft. It can boil at
temperatures between 150°C and 250°C,

3. JP-8
JP-8 (Jet Propulsion) is a kerosene-based military fuel with additives. This product must adhere to the MIL-DTL-
83133 specification,
