    Big Ben - is a symbol of London and of


    England.

    Big Ben is the name of the giant bell that is inside the huge clock tower
     Big Ben chimes every hour, and the tower also
    has smaller bells that chime every 15 minutes.
     It was built in 1859. Its height is 320 foots Big
    Ben is popular tower not only in England but all
    over the world.
    At night, the clock faces are illuminated from inside .

     The clock and the bell got their names after Sir
    Benjamin Hall. He was a tall man, whose
    nickname was Big Ben.
     On New Year s Eve Londoners wait for Big Ben
    to signal the beginning of the New Year
     The tower is not open to the general public, but
    those with a "special interest" may arrange a visit
    to the top of the Clock Tower.
