Acquisition is one phase of the client project which includes interpretation and data
processing. Interpretation is internally updated, revised, enhanced on a daily basis.
Processing is performed just after data is acquired and sometimes repeated one or
more times after few years. Acquisition is not repeated .

For OBC data, there is a 20-50++ ratio between acquisition and processing costs.

Seismic processing contractors are usually satisfied with the denoise tools they
propose. However, many in the companies side believe that seismic data processing
should only consist in two steps: migration and stack.

It is up to the acquisition crews to produce data of high quality, ready for these two
steps.
