ARTS-BASED RESEARCH

CONCEPT PRESENTATION
Vloging is a trend that no one can deny. With its potential to capture someone's attention just like
movies do, they have grown until taking over the digital world (David A, 2022). Today, both in
higher and school education, acknowledged the role of internet in teaching, learning and
assessment. In many cases the Web has become an indespensable tool for all educational actors,
both in the classroom and outside it. In this lightning-pace environment where children, teenagers
and even adults like to spend time to watch vlogs over the youtube, facebook or tiktok. As a grade
7 teacher where learners are restless and easily get bored in a traditional way of delivering
teaching and learning processes wherein they would rather scroll their facebook, instagram or
tiktok to watch vlogs and other entertaining stuffs. As a Gen Z teacher and to go with the modern
digital world, i have come up to study the effectiveness of creating and utilizing vlogs in
delivering lessons to elevate learners' attention and participation in my Grade 7 Music Class.

Contemporary Dance as Medium of Free Expression on the
Perceptions of Learners on the different subjects

In Philippine Education set-up, learners from kinder up to tertiary level has the same subjects taught
(Math, English, History, MAPEH, Values Ed, Filipino and Science) but the level of competence varies as they
advance step by step. The learner’s interest, values and behavior on a certain subject varies based both on the
meaningful and traumatic experiences of learners. Others say that math is the best because they love numbers,
but some says no! I hate it. Posting in facebook, learners develop a sense of freedom in expressing themselves
after the quarterly and performance evaluation. In general conclusion, learners create a lot of impressions on
the subjects taught every year.

Contemporary dance as a form of dance suggests free movements and freedom of expressions. This is the
perfect genre of dance to reflect the different perceptions of learners on the different curriculum subjects. To
collect the necessary data for dance choreography, a self-made questionnaire and checklist is used for thematic
analysis. Recurring themes will be used as the basis for choreography. The purpose of this art-based research is
for the teachers and DepEd to know the different perceptions of students in the development of learners.
Hence, it could also an avenue for them to know the real feeling and thinking of learners.
Mauricio Madrona, a local of Barotac Nuevo, is an Art song composer in
the mid 1900s. His works became the bearer of the culture of
Barotacnons, especially in courtship. However, since the present
generation of Barotacnons are into football, arts are no longer
appreciated. With this in mind, the researcher conceptualized an arts-
based research on the music appreciation of the nonsport affiliated locals
of Barotac Nuevo. This qualitative study will gather information through
personal interviews on purposively selected respondents as to how they
appreciate and understand the songs composed by Mauricio Madrona.
Data gathered will be interpreted through thematic analysis which will
lead to compilation of revisioned art songs of Mauricio Madrona.

Marginalization of financially struggling but
skilled Deped dancesport dancers
According to WDSF , the world governing body for dancesport " Dancesports
for all"Everybody is capable of moving to music! Dance transgresses the
barriers of age, gender and culture. Dance is part of the fabric of every
society. As millions around the globe move to the rhythms of their choice,
they perform one of the most universal sporting gestures too". In reality,
especially in the actual scenario, I look at Dancesport is designed for elite
athletes only. In DepEd institution, it doesn't matter if the student is
technically skillful because if he/she cannot provide his/her expenses such as
food, costume, shoes and training fee the coach may opt to include the dancer.
As for the output, I suggest Deped Instution will create an organization such
as Trainers pool which the aim is to train poor but deserving dancers for free.
Using the patterns of visual perception in the choreographers’ staging
work.

Dance as moving art is a sufficient medium for exploring visual perception and the aesthetic value of
movements. (Kempe and Heinen, 2022). Choreographers regularly assess their work, identify problems, and
modify the composition in order to achieve their goals (Carlson 2011; Cvejic 2017). This means that the content
and the structure of the dance piece continue to develop and evolve during the rehearsal period and
sometimes even after the first performance. During the structuring stage, choreographers make important
editorial decisions relating to the overall layout of the dance piece (Blom & Chaplin 1989; Butterworth 2012;
Smith-Autard 2000). This arts-based research aims to study the patterns of visual perception in the (Dinagyang)
choreographers’ staging work. The researcher wants to know the visual perception patterns used by the
choreographers in staging their choreographic pieces and how can these affect choreographers in staging their
dance pieces. The researcher will use the interview method and the persons involve in the study are the
(Dinagyang) choreographers in Iloilo.
