THE

PANCHATANTRA
The word “Panchatantra” is a combination of the
words Pancha – meaning five in Sanskrit, and
Tantra – meaning weave. Literally translated, it
means interweaving five skeins of traditions and
teachings into a text.
•The Panchatantra is an ancient Indian collection
of interrelated animal fables in Sanskrit verse
and prose, arranged within a frame story. The
text's author is unknown, but it has been
attributed to Vishnu Sharma in some recensions
and Vasubhaga in others, both of which may be
fictitious pen names. It is likely a Hindu text, and
based on older oral traditions with "animal
fables that are as old as we are able to imagine".
• This is the major theme of
Panchatantra:
• One becomes a complete, good
and happy human being through
wise behaviour that leads to gain
and retention of things like
friendship, security and prosperity.
Moral Lesson of Lion Makers

The story has an important lesson

which is to not judge someone
because of their knowledge and
ability. We do not know the
capabilities of each person around
us which is why we should listen
to everyone, we should think first
of the decisions we're making.
