INTRODUCTION:
HANDS-ON LEARNING IS AN EDUCATIONAL APPROACH
THAT INVOLVES EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING WHERE
STUDENTS LEARN BY DOING, CREATING, AND
EXPERIMENTING. IT IS A METHOD OF TEACHING THAT
ENCOURAGES STUDENTS TO BECOME ACTIVE
PARTICIPANTS IN THEIR LEARNING PROCESS, RATHER
THAN PASSIVE ONLOOKERS. THE AIM OF THIS REPORT IS
TO DISCUSS THE BENEFITS OF THE HANDS-ON LEARNING
METHOD IN TEACHING.
• HANDS-ON-LEARNING MEANS LEARNING BY DOING. THIS
TYPE OF LEARNING IS BEST SUITED FOR KINESTHETIC
LEARNERS, WHO LEARN FROM EXAMPLES. HANDS-ON
LEARNING IS ANOTHER TERM FOR EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING,
WHERE INDIVIDUALS IMMERSE THEMSELVES IN A SUBJECT
TO LEARN. STUDENTS LEARN FROM PARTAKING IN
ACTIVITIES RATHER THAN PASSIVELY READING A BOOK OR
ATTENDING A LECTURE. SOME EXAMPLES INCLUDE
COMPLETING LAB EXPERIMENTS IN A CHEMISTRY CLASS OR
WRITING A POEM IN AN ENGLISH CLASS. THIS TYPE OF
LEARNING CAN LEAD TO INCREASED RETENTION OF THE
MATERIAL AND IS A WAY FOR STUDENTS TO PRACTICE
DEVELOPING THEIR PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS.
BENEFITS OF HANDS-ON LEARNING:

MATTER.

CONCLUSION:
IN CONCLUSION, HANDS-ON LEARNING IS A PROVEN
METHOD OF TEACHING THAT HAS NUMEROUS BENEFITS
FOR STUDENTS. THIS EDUCATIONAL APPROACH PROMOTES
ACTIVE PARTICIPATION, INCREASES STUDENT
ENGAGEMENT, DEVELOPS CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS,
IMPROVES RETENTION AND UNDERSTANDING, AND
PROMOTES COLLABORATION AND COMMUNICATION. THUS,
TEACHERS SHOULD CONSIDER INCORPORATING MORE
HANDS-ON LEARNING EXPERIENCES INTO THEIR LESSONS
TO IMPROVE STUDENT LEARNING AND ENGAGEMENT.
