Exercise, from the Latin word Exercitium


or Exercitare, which means “to train”,
is defined as bodily exertion for the sake
of developing and maintaining physical fitness.
Elements of an Exercise Program
The FITT Principle

F - Frequency how often


I - Intensity how hard - Moderate, Vigorous
T - Time how long
T - Type mode - Aerobic, Isotonic, Isometric
Types of Exercises

1. Aerobic Exercise
Vigorous movements done within a sustained period
in order for the body to demand large amounts of
oxygen to develop cardiovascular efficiency.
2. Isotonic Exercise
Steady and partial constant contraction
of the skeletal muscles to produce movement.
(weight lifting, rhythmic gymnastics,
freehand exercises)
3. Isometric Exercise
Muscles are made to undergo tension with no
movement. (pushing against a wall, planking)
Benefits of Exercise

1.Build and maintain healthy muscles, bones and joints.


2.Reduce or maintain body weight and fat.
3.Reduce the risks of heart diseases, cancers and
premature deaths.
4.Reduce depression and anxiety and improves
psychological well-being.
5.Enhance work, recreation and sports performance.
6.Strengthens the body against viruses and illnesses.

address improvement of your physical health and
well-being.
