UNIT 19

RESEARCH PROJECTS
“HOW HAS A MAJOR EXTERNAL EVENT
TRANSFORMED THE WORKPLACE?”

Instructor
Marwa Alageili
Introduction:
• Write a brief introduction about the topic it
self, by stating what it is

• Describe what are the key drivers

influencing workplace
LO#1
EXAMINE APPROPRIATE RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES AND
METHODS TO IDENTIFY THOSE APPROPRIATE TO THE
RESEARCH PROCESSES

P1
P2
M1
LO#1: P1, P2, M1
• P1: Examine alternative research methodologies

• What are the research methodologies
• You will give an explanation the research methods
(Primary /Secondary)
• Types , explanation of these types
• Advantages /disadvantages of them
• Sampling methods
LO#1: P1, P2, M1
• P2: Explore alternative methods and tools used for
the collection of research data that consider costs ,
ethics and access

• State what are the tools we are using to get data

• Methods , we need to prepare a research
• Taking into consideration the cost we need to include as
well as ethical considerations
LO#1: P1, P2, M1
• M1: Evaluate alternative research methodologies and
data collection methods and justify choices made based
on philosophical /theoretical framework

• Deeply evaluate the type of research that you’ve explained

in P2
• Sampling methods
• Stating the difference between these types (research
methods, sampling methods) based on the philosophy
you’d use , or theory , what are the differences between
philosophy and theory ,
• Based on the type of research you are going to choose, you
need to justify the type of research to chose , based on
what!
LO#2: DEVELOP A RESEARCH
PROPOSAL , INCLUDING A
SUPPORTING LITERATURE REVIEW
P3
M2
LO#2: P3, M2
• P3: Produce a research proposal , including defined aim and
objectives supported by literature review
• In this question you will define the proposal of your research ,
through stating the aims and objectives of your research ,the aim
states the bold and general reasons for the research
• The objectives breaks down the aim into point of how you will
achieve the aim
• Action plan – state the activities you will follow in weeks when you
will start and end
• As in the following plot
• Your proposal need to show the Saunders onion in a detailed way
• Literature review- support your work with literature reviewed
( following its steps of Introduction /Bod/ conclusion ) – after the
conclusion you need to show the hypothesis you want to proof at
the end of this research

LO#2: P3,M2
• M2: Evaluate the merits , limitations and pitfalls of
approaches to data collection in compiling the
research proposal

• This section compares and contrasts the most popular

data collection strategies and techniques
• Talk in details about data collection procedures
(Interview , merits /demerit) – (questionnaires/focus group
etc) its like stating the advantages and disadvantages of
each type individually
LO#1 & LO#2: D1
• D1: Justify chosen research methodologies and
processes supported by credible academically
underpinned literature review

• Deeply evaluate the research methodologies and

methods of research, with the application and relation to
your research methodologies as type of methods you’ve
chosen to run this research with
• Justify why you will use a specific type of research and its
relation to the literature review
LO#3: ANALYSE DATA USING
APPROPRIATE TECHNIQUES TO
COMMUNICATE RESEARCH FINDINGS
P4
P5
M3
D2
LO#3: P4, P5, M3,D2
• P4: Conduct research using appropriate methods
for a business research project
• Research methodology, what is the method you will use
to show how you will achieve your aims that you’ve
previously justified
• What are the questions you will use
• What is the sampling methods you will follow , sample
size
• Secondary research , any research was undertaken for
the same subject
• Show how your research type will maintain ethical
issues
LO#3: P4, P5, M3,D2
• P5:Analyse data from research findings to
communicate research outcomes in an appropriate
manner for the intended audience
• Analyze your research , by showing the results fo the questions you’ve
applied
• Give a brief explaining and discussion for your results
• Evaluate your research in the 4 stages
• Show plots of your results and provide brief explanation about it
• Define your stakeholders
• State what is the tools that you’ll use to show your results to the audience
• Explain and describe your final findings which you can count on and your
stakeholder will count on, by giving an brief report of how you’ve
conducted your research why you’ve done it , how you’ve done it , how
you’ve reached your results and now you're making a recommendation
based on it
• Evaluate the whole research processes
• How your research was reliable and valid
LO#3: P4, P5, M3,D2
• M3: Present the analysis of data utilizing appropriate
analytical techniques , charts , and tables to meet the
research aim and communicate outcomes

• How you can analyze your results , evaluate them

• Show your results and writing s discussion about it , that
these results will assist you to determine this aim and also
where expressed in the objectives steps
LO#3: P4, P5, M3,D2
• D2: Communicate to the intended audience the research
findings , and outcomes , including justified
recommendations
• Deeply you will talk of how you’ve reached your aim
• As it was though objectives , now you should state down
you’ve done your research that based on valid , reliable
data collection tool
• That the research was ethically acceptable and you can
generalize your results and recommendations upon
• Analyze your outcomes that you’ve come up with that are
based on what
• As you will make a recommendation upon your results
• Justify your methods, procedures with the final results and
recommendation you will made
LO#4: REFLECT ON THE APPLICATION
OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES AND
PROCESS
P6
P7
M4
D3
LO#4: P6, P7, M4,D3
• P6: Reflect on the effectiveness of research method
applied in meeting objectives of the business
research project

• Choose a type of the reflection cycle

• When you gonna reflect its like conclusion , but consider
yourself inside it , as what was right , what went wrong,
what was the final conclusion, how things was , how you
would like to change things in the future
LO#4: P6, P7, M4,D3
• P7: consider alternative research methodologies and
lessons learnt in view of the outcomes

• Suggest an alternative research method , that you could

apply on your research
• What are the lessons learnt once you’ve used your
methods, related to the outcomes you’ve considered
compared with the other methodologies that you’ve
suggested
• Conclusion
LO#4: P6, P7, M4,D3
• M4: provide critical reflection and insight that results
in recommended actions for improvements and future
consideration
• Based on the reflection cycle you’ve chosen in P6
• You can go deeply into details when you’re reflecting in
action and on action , as what was the aim. How you’ve
achieved it , what you’ve noticed during collecting data,
what was the wrong thing , that in the future which will
be reflection on action in the future that you’ll
recommend of doing and improving for anther research
that is similar to yours
LO#4: P6, P7, M4,D3
• D3: Demonstrate critical self-reflection and insight that
results in recommended actions for improvement
actions for improvements to inform future research

• Deeply reflect on the research , by stating how based on

the methodology you’ve chosen you have followed a
procedure that was based on the current resources ,
actions
• That thus , leading you to make a final out come based
on the suggestions you’ve made from beginning
• Therefore, you may suggest that you could change some
of the methods , or procedures etc, that you think it will
provide an improvement to the research in the future
