CONFUCIANISM

Confucianism:
 is a traditional Chinese belief system that emphasizes the value of morality
and personal ethics.

Confucianism is the way of life that


Confucius promoted between the sixth
and fifth centuries BCE and that the
Chinese people have adhered to for more
than two millennia. It continues to be the
Chinese social code and has an impact on
other nations, including Vietnam, Korea,
and Japan.
Founder of Confucianism:

 The founder of Confucianism was a man named Kong


Qi. He later was known as Kong Fuzi or master Kong.
In the west, he is called Confucius. He was born in
551BC. in northeastern China in the state of Lu.
Belief of Confucianism:

 Ancestor worship and human- centered


virtues for living a peaceful life.

 Great sacrifice offerd by the emperor, middle


sacrifice offered by court officials and minor
sacrifice offered by local official
3 Main Belief of Confucianism

Filial piety- A Confucian concept derived from Chinese culture,


which advocates a set of moral norms, values, and practices of respect
and caring for one's parents.

Humanesses- As in kindness. sympathetic concern for the well-being


of others with more humaneness than good sense, I decided to take in yet
another stray cat.

Ritual- In the domain of ethics, Confucius construes ritual as the criterion


of such virtues as "respectfulness, carefulness, courage, and
forthrightness."
Why did Confucianism became a religion?

 There is debate over if Confucianism is a religion.


Confucianism is best understood as an ethical guide to
life and living with strong character.
Yet, Confucianism also began as a revival of an
earlier religious tradition. There are no Confucian
gods, and Confucius himself is worshipped as a spirit
rather than a god.
