BASIC MOVEMENT SKILLS

1.Locomotor Skill– Skills used to move the


body from one place to another or to
project the body upward.
Example: walking, running, hopping,
skipping, sliding, crawling.
2. Non-locomotor Skill- Skills that are performed
in place without appreciable spatial movement.
Example:
1. Flexion/ bending
2. Extension/ stretching
3. Rotation/ circling
4. Pendular/swinging or swaying
5. Percussive,/ pulling pushing
6. Vibratory/ shaking
7. Sustained/ ballet
NON LOCOMOTOR
1. Flexion = a contraction or shortening of body parts or
joint
2. Extension = straightening or stretching of a body parts
from joint
3. Rotation =Turning, Twisting or circling around axis
4. Pendular =a similar movement of a pendulum. Swinging or
swaying movement.
5. Percussive =movement striking hiting, pulling or pushing.
6. Vibratory =the shaking of body parts or beating
movement contained in a balance position.
7. Sustained = a smoth flowing movement against a regular
motion & a sudden pause of prolonged suspension.
3. MANIPULATIVE SKILL
 Skills are develop through object
handling. The manipulative leads to eye-
foot and hand-eye coordination.
Example: bouncing, catching, kicking.
