What is a noun?

A noun is a person, an animal, or a thing.


Man, woman, child, doctor, student, my mom
(person).
Lion, eagle, snake, dolphin, whale, spider
(animal).
Marker, pencil, watch, knife, window, ring (thing).

Plurals with S:

In general, we add S to the noun:


Boy → Boys
Girl → Girls
Cat → Cats
Computer → Computers

Nouns ending in ch – sh – ss – x – o, z, we add ES to the noun:


Witch → Witches
Roach → Roaches
Brush → Brushes
Mosquito → Mosquitoes

A noun ending in a consonant + y: we change Y to
