 Input Technology

• Keyboard:
• The most common input device is keyboard and electronically
controlled hardware component that used to enter alphanumeric data.
• Letters
• Numbers
• Special characters.
• It can be plugged into the system you are connected as a wirelessly
through Bluetooth.

 Storage Bays

A storage Bay is a site where a storage device such as a hard

drive or CD DVD drive install the number of bays in computer
determine that number of storage devices that can be installed.

 Memory Important Terms

Random Access Memory (RAM)

Ram also called main memory or primary storage, that

is the temporary memory in which program and data
are stored while the computer is in use.

• Accept and hold the program instruction and data.

• Act as the CPU’s source for data and instruction.
• Hold the final processed information until it can be sent to (RAM)
the desired output storage or storage device such as the
printer or disk drive

 Memory Important Terms

Cache Memory

A type of processing storage used with RAM is cache

memory. Cache memory [Pronounced Cash] is a
holding area in which the data and instructions most
recently called by the processor from the RAM are
stored.

 Memory Important Terms

Read Only Memory (ROM) and Flash

Memory
A computer system unit has one or more Read Only Memory (ROM) chips
that contain instruction or data permanently placed on the chip.

Flash memory also referred to as flash ROM is the type of nonvolatile

memory that can be erased and reused or programed. Flash/USB
Flash memory is used for storing program and data on many handled
computers and devices such as a digital camera PDS cellular phones and mp3
player etc.

 Ports
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Port: USB is widely used for high-speed modems scanners digital cameras and
other devices. Many keyboards Point to click are now available with the USB port as well.

Video Port: A video port connects a monitor and maybe built into a computer or provided by a graphics card
placed in an expansion slot.

Network Port: Network port connect computer system to a local area network the cable used to connect to a
network as an RJ45 connector which is slightly larger than a telephone cable connector.

Modem Port: It connects a modem card to telephone line. Where the cable used to connect the telephone, line is
a standard telephone cable with RJ11 connector.

Audio Port: An audio port connects a sound card external device such as speaker microphone and headsets.
