What is ScINET-PHIL?
Information Network of the Philippines (ScINET-PHIL) is a consortium of libraries and information centers of the 21 agencies under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
It aims to organize and coordinate the information sourcing and sharing in the DOST system.
Its general objective is to promote and improve the flow and use of science and technology (S&T) information through resource sharing and networking.
ScINET-PHIL's specific objectives are: To develop information products and services; to enhance the collection of information in both print and non-print formats;
to upgrade infrastructure for resource sharing and networking; to develop human resource capability in the information services sector;
to establish linkages and resource sharing arrangements with other national and international S&T libraries and information centers.
12 agencies in the Bicutan area, namely: 1. Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) 2. National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) 3. Science Education Institute (SEI) 4. Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI) 5. Science and Technology Information Institute (STII) 6. Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI) 7. National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) 8. Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) 9. Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) 10. Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research and Development (PCIERD) 11. Philippine Council for Advanced Science and Technology Research and Development (PCASTRD) and 12. Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD).

HERDIN is a specialized network of documentation and information centers engaged in health research and development.
IRAD Integrates the four databases (Scientist, Foreign Analytics, Filipiniana, and Institutions) toprovide a dynamic information for reference.

The Marine Information and Data Archive System was initiated in 1999 by UPMSI and DOSTPCAMRD under the South China Sea Research program. After the project ended, MIDAS was maintained by the Marine Science Institute getting support from various projects and agencies.
ONLINE DATABASES are for exclusive use of DOST IV personnel and registered users only. It is mainly designed to store and manage particular information on its different databases through online data submission.

1. Shall continually grow and mature as an information professional by being involved and invited to participate in ScINET-PHIL activities, such as: a. ScINET-PHIL Annual Congress and other technical working group Meetings b. Scientific conferences, workshops, and symposia c. Task forces and special teams to work on special issues on S&T information networking, and, d. Annual search for outstanding member (individual and institutional Category)
2. Shall receive technical support in networking endeavors and resource sharing activities and dissemination of S&T information. 3. Shall receive, whenever available, copies of the various publications of ScINET-PHIL Requirements/Criteria for Membership in ScINET-PHIL
In 2003, the DOST SciNET Phil Union Catalog was completed to facilitate fast search and retrieval of S & T information in the science community by providing a single entry point to all library collections and other information within the DOST system. It is web-based and serves as search engine for S & T information that shall retrieve available information in the data center.
