HOW TO LEAD A CHILD TO CHRIST
 Why lead children to Christ?

1. God commands it.


a. “ Making disciples of all nations”
-[Matthew 28:19, 20; Mark 16:15; Matthew 18:14; 19:14]

2. The Spiritual Condition of a child demands it.


a. The Bible teaches he is a sinner
-[Romans 5:12; 3:23; Psalm 51:5; 58:3]

b. The natural man [without Christ] cannot understand


spiritual truths
-[1 Corinthians 2:14; Romans 8:7,8]

 Why lead children to Christ?

Note: In order to lead a child to Christ, we


must consider two things;

THE MESSAGE OF SALVATION
 The Foundational Truths: Our need

1. The Bible is the Word of God


- 2 Timothy 3:15-16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Romans 10:17

2. The true and Living God is


a. The Creator of all things
- Acts 17:22-24; John 1:3; Genesis 1:1, 26,27
b. Love
- 1 John 4:16, 19; Jeremiah 31:3; Romans 5:8
c. Holy, without sin and just
- 1 John 1:5; Acts 3:14; Leviticus 19:2

3. Man is
a. Responsible to God as Creator and Judge
- Romans 1:20; Acts 17:31; Romans 2:16
b. A sinner by nature and by act
- Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:10-12

# Sin is against God [Jeremiah 16:10b; Psalm 51:4]


#Sin must be punished [Acts 17:31; John 3:36; Romans 6:23]
#Sin separates us from God [Isaiah 59:2]

c. Unable to save himself


-Titus 3:5; Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 4:12

 The Gospel: God’s Way

The Gospel is God’s righteous way to save


unrighteous sinners. It is the grace of God
provided through the cross of Christ. It is God’s
solution to man’s predicament. It is essentially
Jesus Christ Himself, who He is and what He has
done in accomplishing a reconciliation of sinful
man with a holy and loving God. Now a righteous
God can offer a complete pardon, justification and
eternal life.

The Gospel then is message which proclaims the good news of Jesus
Christ the Son of God-crucified, buried, risen again and exalted in the
right hand of God.

1. The source of the Gospel


a) God shows His grace, mercy and love by providing salvation
through His Son
- Ephesians 2:4,8; John 3:16; Acts 3:26; Titus 3:5

2. The person of Jesus Christ


b) He is the son of God
-Mark 1:1; Luke 1:35; John 1:34, 49-51; Acts 9:20
c) He is the perfect man
-Galatians 4:4; Hebrews 4:15

The Gospel then is message which proclaims the good news of

3. The work of Jesus Christ


a) He died for our sin
- 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews
9:14,22b
b) The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
- Acts 2:32; Romans 4:24, 25
c) The exaltation of Jesus Christ
- Matthew 26:64; Mark 16:19; Acts 7:55

4. The salvation of Jesus Christ


d) Justification, regeneration and the other blessings of this Gospel
are received through faith in Jesus Christ, the all-sufficient Savior
-Acts 16:31; 4:12; Ephesians 1:3; John 3:16; Romans 3:22

 The Appropriation Of Salvation: The Invitation
1. God’s invitation to come to Christ
a) The Lord Jesus must be received personally for salvation. He will
give you everlasting Life- His life. The Holy Spirit indwells the
believer, giving power to overcome sin
-Acts 16:31; John 6:37; 7:37; Revelation 22:17; Ephesians
2:8,9; John 3:16; John 14:16; 1 John 4:4
2. Man’s responsibility
b) To recognize and agree with what God has said about man’s sinful
condition, thus to see himself a lost sinner
- 1 John 3:4; Romans 1:18; John 16:8-11
c) To be willing to turn from sin in obedience to the Holy Spirit’s
prompting
- Acts 17:30; 1 Thess. 1:9; Acts 3:19
d) To trust the Lord Jesus Christ who died for sin
- Acts 16:31; John 3:36; John 1:12; Romans 5:1
