    Androcles was a slave who escaped into the forest to get away from his unkind master. While in the forest, he came across a lion whose paw had a large thorn in it. Androcles helped the lion by removing the thorn from its paw. Later, Androcles was captured and sentenced to be thrown to a lion. However, when he was thrown in with the lions, the one he had helped recognized him and did not harm him, allowing Androcles to gain his freedom.

    The story

    Androcles was a slave. His master was not kind. One day, Androcles
    ran away. He ran through the forest for hours and hours. At last, he
    came to a stream. He was very thirsty and drank the water. At the
    time he saw a big lion, this lion’s paw had a big thorn. He helped
    and took out this thorn from the lion’s paw. The lion went away into
    the forest. The next day, some soldiers found Androcles. They took
    him to the emperor. And then the soldier threw Androcles to the
    lion. But the lion did not eat Androcles because he helped a lion in
    the forest. So the emperor saw this strange and the emperor
    allowed him to be free from a slave to him. Androcles and Lion went
    back to the forest happily.
