CONFIGURATION WIZARD - INTRODUCTION
• Configuration wizard is intended to allow an end-
user to get a basic system up and running
without navigating the regular GUI.
• The wizard is implemented as an integral part of
the GUI and will be shown on new system
startup when no configuration file or interfaces
are detected
• Once the wizard has been completed, it saves all
changes to the configuration file and reboots the
system which reverts the display to the regular
GUI.

3
CONFIGURATION WIZARD – SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION
• System Name = Server hostname
• System Banner: The banner headline displayed by a web
browser accessing this system.

• Customer Name: Customer name must be provided for

license verification
• Location: The location of the system. This can be anything
Google Maps can understand, e.g. the name of a town or
geographical feature, a street address, or map coordinates.
4
CONFIGURATION WIZARD – ACCESSING STM
• The 'Accessing STM' page allows the user to change the IP
address of the system. The most usual case is expected to be
switching from a DHCP-assigned address to a statically-
assigned one.
• The management interface is the interface to which the default
route points to and it is protected by the Ubuntu firewall.
• Allowed Subnets – A comma separated list of the subnets
which are allowed to access this interface, each in the form
1.2.3.0/24. It may be edited via the regular GUI after finishing
the system setup. By default the following addresses are
allowed access.
• All private address ranges
• Saisei HQ addresses (Never shown in the list but loaded at boot)
• Management interface subnet

→ Management Interfaces menu is available in the expert mode.

5
CONFIGURATION WIZARD – BITW

• There will be one or two BITW pages shown,

depending on the number of interfaces available.
The user is required to configure at least one
BITW.
• The wizard will also create, peer, and enable a
pair of associated VLAN interfaces (whether the
user wants them or not).
• If span port is set, traffic that comes to the bump
will be processed for monitoring and discarded at
the peer port.
• The wizard does not provide direct user control
over the selection of system model. Instead, it
calculates the aggregate rate on all BITWs
configured and assigns the model using the
formula:
• small: ≤2G
• medium: >2G≤5G
• large: >5G

6
CONFIGURATION WIZARD – POLICIES

• There are 6 built-in policies that will be loaded if the

option is selected
• Voip
• Streaming
• Speedtest
• Games
• Updates
• Other

• Declining this option uses the default IP data and

Layer 2 paths
7
CONFIGURATION WIZARD – RATE PLANS

• Rate plans are a method to create a group

of policies that are applied to individual
hosts
• Default Rate Plan is used for internal hosts
when no other rate plan has been assigned
• More rate plans can be created once the
configuration wizard has finished

8
CONFIGURATION WIZARD – COMPLETION

• When the user clicks 'Finish’, it makes a

final REST call to update the 'running'
configuration object, save the config, and
reload the back-end.
• The wizard then shows a progress bar
while waiting to reconnect to the back-end
• Once the back-end is reachable again, the
wizard reloads the browser, having adjusted
the URL if necessary (name or IP address
changed), and the normal GUI should
appear.
• 'Cancel’ button will terminate the wizard
without applying any changes, and
immediately switch to the regular GUI
