Farm inputs
SEEDS – are the grains of the
ripened ovules of plants used for
sowing.
Farm inputs

SEEDLINGS- a young plant,

especially one raised from seed and
not from a cutting
Farm inputs

FERTILIZER –supplies
nutrients essential to the plant
growth

LABOR REQUIREMENT FOR
LAND PREPARATION
Labor requirement for land preparation

 Clearingthe land (using hoe)

LAND CLEARING is the process of
removing trees, stumps, brush, stones, and
other obstacles from an area as required to
increase the size of the land for crop
production.
Labor requirement for land preparation

 Plowing using Tractor or Animal:

-breaking up hard topsoil, burying crop residues
and help control weeds.
The purpose of plowing is to turn over the upper
layer if the soil, bringing fresh nutrients from the
surface, while bury weeds and the remains of
previous crops and allowing them to breakdown.
Labor requirement for land preparation

 Harrowing using Hand tractor:

 -loosening and smoothening the ground after it has
been plowed and packed.
 The purpose of harrowing is generally to break up
clods or lumps of soil to provide a good soil structure
suitable for bed seed use.
LABOR REQUIREMENT IN
PLANTING
Labor requirement in planting

 Pulling of Seedlings:
Also known as pricking out or removing
seedlings from their original plots or container
and replanting in individual pots to help them
grow better
Labor requirement in planting

 Transplantingof Seedlings:
The process of moving a fully germinated
seedling (mature plant) and replanting it in a
permanent location for the growing season.
Why is it necessary to
replant or transplant a
mature seedlings?
LABOR REQUIREMENT FOR
PLANT CARE
Labor requirement for plant care

 Irrigation
The supply of water to land or rice field to help
plant growth.
Irrigation allows farmers and gardeners to
efficiently use water to guarantee plant growth.
Labor requirement for plant care

 Pest Control
A method of controlling pests such as
insects, rodents and bugs.
Labor requirement for plant care

 Fertilizer application
It refers to spreadingfertilizers
uniformly or evenly all over the field.
What is the benefit of
applying fertilizers?
Labor requirement for plant care

 Weeding
Removing of unwanted plants from the crop
you want to be productive.
The removal of weeds is useful because these
unwanted plants compete with the crops for
space, water and nutrients.
Labor requirement for plant care

 Harvesting
The process of collecting the mature crop
from the field.
Harvesting at the right time and in the right
way maximizes grain yield and minimizes
grain loses.
Labor requirement for plant care

 Threshing Rice
it is the processof loosening the edible
part of grain from the husks and straw
to which it is attached.
*it is separating the grains from the
stalks.
Labor requirement for plant care

 Drying Rice
Drying reduces grain moisture content to
a safe level for storage.
Labor requirement for plant care

 Storing
Keeping the harvested crop in a dry,
clean and safe storage area.
QUIZ TIME !
Identify labor requirement for plant care.
Directions: Write TRUE if the statement is correct and FALSE if
the statement is wrong. Write your answer on the space before
each number.
