Today we will learn how to
express verbs in the Past
talking about ” chores”.

We will read a text about

”cleaning day’’in the Past
 Past Simple –is a tense to
express past actions.
In English the verbs are classified into 2
groups :
REGULAR VERBS AND IRREGULAR VERBS
Regular verbs =V+ed
wash+ed=washed
clean+ed=cleaned
help+ed=helped
hoover+ed=hoovered
water+ed =watered
walk+ed=walked
visit+ed=visited
 There are some rules when
we make up Past Simple
1. Usually we add +ed to the verb
talk+ed=talked work+ed=worked
cook+ed=cooked ski+ed =skied
help+ed=helped clean+ed=cleaned
learn+ed=learned play+ed=played
2. When the verb ends in ”e” mute we
omit it
like+d=liked
skate+d=skated
live+d=lived
celebrate+d=celebrated
 There are some rules when
we make up Past Simple

3.When the verb has one syllable , it ends in a

consonant , and there is only one vowel before
it , we double the consonant
mop+ed=mopped
stop+ed=stopped
 wash the dishes

Tina washed the dishes

 It was Saturday yesterday
It was Saturday yesterday. It was cleaning
day. Everybody was at home. Everybody was
busy with cleaning.
Mother was in the kitchen. She
washed the dishes and cooked the
meals. She also cleaned the windows .
I helped my mother in the kitchen. I
mopped the floor. My dad hoovered
the carpets . My brother dusted the
furniture and watered the plants. My sister also
cleaned the shoes.
On Sunday we were outside It was snowy but
not very cold .We played in the snow together with
our parents. We also visited our family friends. We
played some interesting games. We were happy to
be together. It was an amazing Saturday
