Security Management
1. User Security
The U2000 user security management mainly involves the object management, password management, access
control management, and rights- and domain-based management.

The application of rights involves defining, assigning, and using rights. Authority management, which is essential
to user management, controls the assignment and usage of rights.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Huawei Confidential Page 14

Deployment of a single server System
For the deployment mode of a single-server system, there is only one U2000 server where all processes run. Multiple clients are
allowed to connect to and perform operations on the U2000 server. This deployment mode is a simple and inexpensive to deploy.

The single-server system is deployed on Windows, Solaris, or SUSE Linux, and supports single-server multiple-
client networking schemes. The clients and the server are connected by means of LAN or WAN, as shown in
Figure 1.

Commissioning and Provisioning
Global configuration:
Configure GPON Profile
For the current version, the GPON profiles are classified into two types of profiles, that is, the GPON profiles in
the distributed mode and the GPON profiles in the profile mode. The GPON profiles that are in the distributed
mode are used to support the device versions earlier than V800R006C02, and the GPON profiles that are in the
profile mode are used to optimize the configuration of the optical network terminal (ONT) for configuring the ONTs
in batches.

1. Configuring an MDU SNMP Profile

2. Configuring a DBA Profile
3. Configuring a GPON Line Profile
4. Configuring a GPON Service Profile
5. Adding a VLAN
6. Configuring an MEF IP Traffic Profile

Configuring an MDU SNMP Profile
The MDU Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) profile is a collection of SNMP parameters. You can
configure the information about an MDU management channel to OLT to implement the remote deployment and
maintenance for the MDU.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Huawei Confidential Page 27

onfiguring a DBA Profile
A DBA profile contains the traffic parameters of a T-CONT. After a DBA profile is configured successfully and
bound to a T-CONT, the system controls the traffic of the T-CONT based on the traffic parameters specified in the
DBA profile. In this case, the DBA profile provides the flexible dynamic bandwidth allocation.

dding VLAN
Before you provision services for network elements, you can add a VLAN or add VLANs in batches according to the global data
plan. When VLANs with continuous IDs and the VLAN type is consistent with the VLAN attribute, these VLANs can be added in
batches. In addition, the names of the VLANs that are added in batches are generated automatically.

ALARM REPORT

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Huawei Confidential Page 35

Alarm Management
By viewing alarms, you can learn network and NE status, and locate faults. Therefore, alarms need to be
obtained and managed effectively. To ensure the normal running of the network, the network management or
maintenance engineer must monitor and handle alarms periodically

Basic Concepts
This topic describes the concepts about the fault management such as alarm, event, alarm status, and alarm severity. These
concepts help you to perform fault management operations.

1. Alarms and Events

2. Alarm Severity
3. Alarm Handling Procedure

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Huawei Confidential Page 36

Alarm Management
1. Alarms and Events

This topic describes the similarities and differences between an alarm and an event on
the U2000.
Similarities
In the U2000, alarms and events refer to the messages that are sent to the U2000 and
are generated after the statuses of the managed objects are changed.
Differences
The differences between an alarm and an event are described as follows: An alarm
indicates that a fault occurs on the U2000 or a managed object. The fault must be
rectified in time. Otherwise, the U2000 services cannot run properly because the fault
affects the functions of the U2000 or its devices. Users can acknowledge and clear an
alarm.
An event indicates that the state of a managed object changes. The change may not
affect the U2000 services. Users cannot acknowledge and clear an event.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Huawei Confidential Page 37

Alarm Management
2. Alarm Severity

This topic describes how to use alarm severity to identify the severity, significance and
urgency of an alarm. Alarm severities include critical, major, minor, and warning in
descending order. You can use processing policies for different alarm severities and
redefine alarm severities.
The following table describes the alarms of different severities and the corresponding
handling methods.
For Non-NA NEs, alarms come in the following four levels in descending order of
severity: critical, major, minor and warning.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Huawei Confidential Page 38

Alarm Management
3. Alarm Handling Procedure
This topic describes the alarm handling procedure. After the U2000 detects an alarm, you are recommended to handle the alarm
according to the following procedure.
